The start of summer break in Nevada may be a welcome time away from homework and school projects for students, but it also means many children will lose access to daily free and reduced-priced meals.
In some counties, school districts have programs to continue providing that food through the summer months, but these come with some limitations.
Like last summer, students in most districts will have to eat their meals on-site as a part of a summer school program or through a U.S. Department of Agriculture-funded Summer Food Service Program. The USDA has a program on its website that locates a nearby summer meal site based on your address.
In addition to these school district programs, some food banks and other programs will fill in the gaps in certain regions. We’ve gathered information about those resources, broken down by county, here. More information will be added as we receive it. If we missed anything, reach out and let us know at [email protected].
